Festivus at the Magic Kingdom

Saturday 23 December 2017

at 7:50 a.m., the approach:

Main Street Station

Between City Hall and package pick-up, Candy Cane Lane minus Santa.

The festooning of City Hall.

A rodent and his best friend in the Emporium.

Cinderella Castle draped in a network of lights, admitting guests into Fantasyland.

Ash-girl makes her getaway in Dorthea Redmond‘s mosaic mural (as executed by Hanns-Joachim Scharff).

Riders on the Magic Carpets of Aladdin in Adventureland.

Come in and have a nice cuppa tiki.

The serene fountain adjacent to Pirates of the Caribbean.

Getting a view from the fo’cs’le above Plaza del Sol Caribe.

Another lovely fountain has disappeared.

The snowballers

precede the noon edition of today’s

Mickey's Once Upon a Christmastime Parade

Pinocchio and Gepetto

In case you would like to see some of last year’s fancy stepping:

Prince Eric and de-mermaided Ariel.

Jasmine and Aladdin.

On high, Fairy Godmother’s gown conceals her safety anchoring.

Jessie the yodeling cowgirl

Bullseye

After standing in place for 45 minutes, my feet are in excruciating pain and I am every bit as glad as Santa that the parade is over.

How the whole thing looked back in 2015:

And even further back in 2013:

And would you believe 21 years ago?

I’m obviously some kind of masochist. And if you watch all this video, well . . .

Meanwhile,

Happy Festivus!
